Benefits of Having a Backup Bottle / Product Decorator
Although you may be satisfied with the service provided by your current bottle / product decorator, we have found that it’s advisable to have a secondary provider for several reasons. A secondary provider is one that does not print the majority of your standard product line, but perhaps a subset. Directing a portion of your business to a backup printer develops a relationship up front, just in case something prevents your primary provider from fulfilling your regularly scheduled orders. In addition, keeping copies of your artwork readily available will make schedule recovery much more likely in the event of an unforeseen catastrophic event. Other things to consider are uniqueness of the products being printed. Some quantities of non-standard items requiring custom tooling might be good candidates for a secondary printer, as the secondary printer will already have the required tooling if the primary printer is incapacitated.
Disasters caused by fire or harsh weather conditions can destroy your primary printer’s equipment, screens, plates, or cause power outages that result in lengthy schedule delays. Already having a relationship with a secondary decorator is like having an insurance policy that your needs can and will be taken care of until your primary provider is up and running again.
Although there are obvious benefits to having a secondary provider, most product decorator’s high line-item minimums make it difficult to develop this sort of relationship.
